About Us
Hebridean Properties is a small company based in the Western Isles, Scotland, specialising in building modern and contemporary homes whose layouts and exteriors are closely based upon the classic traditional croft houses seen on the West Coast of Scotland.
Run by Mark Miller Mundy and Duncan Maxwell, we believe that one of the major considerations when building a new house should not just be its impact upon the environment (eg its carbon footprint), but also on how it impacts upon the surrounding landscape - especially in landscapes such as can be found on the West Coast of Scotland.
While beauty clearly is in the eye of the beholder, one has only to glance at some of the houses that have been built in the islands over the last decade or so to see that their designers appear to have been more interested in what goes on inside the house rather than considering how it might look within the landscape.
The type of homes being built by Hebridean Properties offer all the conveniences of modern living on the inside but combine them with a classic or traditional Scottish exterior. Not only are they aesthetically beautiful, they also ensure that the finished home blends comfortably with its surrounding landscape.
Whenever possible, Hebridean Properties will adapt an interior layout or design prior to suit a client’s individual requirements. Likewise, we will also fit out key elements of this interior, such as kitchen and bathroom bath tiles, to suit the client's taste.
All building work is carried out to an extremely high standard by skilled personnel. If for any reason, regular site visits to monitor work in progress are inconvenient, clients are welcome to instruct an independent surveyor to monitor work in progress on their behalf.
